About

I’m Kara Haupt. I’m currently Senior Director of Art and Photography at NBC News Digital, where I run the art, photography, and editorial design teams for nbcnews.com, today.com, and msnbc.com.

I’m a seasoned designer and creative director — with experience directing large-scale projects, building editorial design standards, hiring and managing creative teams, and working cross-functionally with partners in multiple departments. I have a strong background in commissioning and art directing editorial illustration and design directing for social media, along with a keen interest in team-building, documentation, and workflow.

Prior to NBC, I was an art director for The New Yorker online and a Design Lead for Content and Social Design for the 2016 Hillary Clinton presidential campaign.

I grew up in Boise, Idaho and attended the Pratt Institute and Pacific Northwest College of Art. I currently live in Brooklyn, New York.
